Dartmouth College. Diplomas
Biography
The first diplomas were provided at the expense of the graduates and were printed on velum and embellished by hand. The seal was fixed upon a separate piece of parchment and attached to the diploma by ribbon. After 1876 the seal was pressed directly on the diploma. Sheepskin velum which was shipped from England was used until 1947 after which they were printed on heavy bond paper.
