Biography

Paramount Pictures was founded in 1912 when they were known as the Famous Players Film Company. In 1916 they merged with another film company to become the Famous Players-Laksy Corporation which eventually became known as Paramount Pictures. Today, it is fifth oldest surviving film studio in the world and America's oldest running studio.

Abstract

The collection contain a scrapbook chronicling Richard E. Byrd's First Antarctic Expedition (1928-1930) and the making and publication of the documentary film "With Byrd At the South Pole."
