Lancaster Independent Gazette (1872-1883)

 

Biography

The "Independent Gazette" was started by George H. Emerson and Harry C. Hartshorn. The editor was James S. Brackett for a time until Emerson became editor until 1877, when the paper was sold to I.W. Quimby and F.W. Burns. Burns sold his interest to Joseph Roby Jr. who after a few months sold out to Quimby who continued the publication until November 1883.

Subscriber list of the Lancaster "Independent Gazette." Towns in New Hampshire in which subscribers lived include Lancaster, Northumberland, Guildhall, Groveton, Stratford Hollow, Coos, Colebrook, South Columbia, Island Pond, Jefferson, and Gorham.
