Biography
The company was founded by Folsom Morrill of Belknap County, New Hampshire, John W. Chase of Charfield County, Pennsylvania and Joseph Thompson of Merrimack County, New Hampshire on February 13, 1850 in order to sell masts for shipbuilding to the Boston market.
Folsom Morrill was born on December 9, 1798 in Hawke, New Hampshire. He was a farmer and lumberman and became one of the wealthiest and most influential men of Sanbornton, NH, where he had inherited his father's homestead. Morrill died in 1884.
