Dartmouth College. Committee on the Status of Women Faculty

Biography

In May 1971, at the request of the Women's Faculty Caucus, the Committee on Organization and Policy appointed an ad hoc committee to investigate possible discrimination against women faculty and administrators. The Committee on Women Faculty, chaired by Marysa Navarro, voted to limit its focus to women faculty in the arts and sciences, and offered its first report November 18, 1971. In May 1972, the faculty approved the Committee's recommendations, among them the establishment of the Committee on the Status of Women Faculty. Evelyn Spiegel chaired this committee from 1973 - 1974.
