New England Studies Institute

Biography

The New England Studies Institute was a interdisciplinary program that examined regional issues from a historical and cultural context. The concept originated with a high school teacher who wrote a funding proposal to the National Endowment for the Humanities. Professors from Dartmouth's departments of art, history and English and its Resource Policy Center worked with more than two dozen elementary and secondary teachers each summer.
