American Defense (Dartmouth Group)

 

Biography

The American Defense Dartmouth Group was established around the opening of College in September 1940. It was established by President Ernest Martin Hopkins to serve as a central agency for the defense activities of the College and was headed by Professor Harold J. Tobin of the Political Science department. Tobin had studied defense plans for many years and had co-author of the book "Mobilizing Civilian America."
