Dartmouth College. Dartmouth Educational Association

Biography

In 1896,a small group of Dartmouth Alumni from Massachusetts formed the Dartmouth Educatonal Association to assist needy students preparing for Dartmouth or pursuing studies at the College by providing small loans at 2%. Members paid $10 annually to create the loan fund. When Dartmouth formalized student aid in one office, the Association chose to receive recommendations for aid recipients from the College. The Association provided a convenient way for alumni, parents of alumni, staff and others to contribute in a small way to scholarship aid at Dartmouth.
