Biography

Theodore Parker (August 24, 1810 – May 10, 1860) was an American transcendentalist and reforming minister of the Unitarian church. A reformer and abolitionist, his words and popular quotations would later inspire speeches by Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.

Three-page letter from Joshua Reed Giddings in Washington, DC to Theodore Parker, in which he writes of the presidential campaign of 1847-48 and Mr. Webster's decision to take grounds "in favor of liberty and against the encrouchment of slavery." Mentions Mr. Corwin and Judge Allen. Bouns in "Reminiscences of Daniel Webster," by Peter Harvey.
