Biography

Worthington Smith was an educator and religious leader. He was principal and head of the Franklin County Grammar School board of trustees, and was also president of the county school board and President of the Vermont Teachers' Association. After having been affiliated with the University of Vermont for several years, in 1856 he became President, also serving as professor of economics, law, government and religion.
