Biography

U.S. Congressman. Moving to Ohio in 1844, he taught in the academy at Tallmadge, Ohio, studied law, graduated from the Cincinnati Law School in 1845, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Akron, Ohio, in 1846. He was prosecuting attorney of Summit County, (1852-56) and a delegate to the first Republican National Convention in 1856.
