Biography
Ben Ames Williams was born in 1889, in Macon, Mississippi. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1910. From 1910-1916, he worked as a journalist for the "Boston American" concurrently writing and submitting short stories to magazines. He published his first short story around 1914, his first novel in 1919. A prolific writer, Williams published thirty-eight novels and nearly 400 short stories in his lifetime. He died after the completion of his final novel "The Unconquered" in 1953.
