Biography

Samuel entered Dartmouth College in 1838 and graduated in 1842. He then entered the Andover Theological Seminary and graduated in 1845. He was ordained pastor over a new parish in Salmon Falls, New Hampshire in 1846. He returned to Newburyport in 1851. In 1862 Samuel was commissioned Chaplain of the 48th Massachusetts Regiment and mustard in the service on 29 December 1862 and mustard out on 30 August 1863. He was a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society and contributed to he Spalding Memorial, published in 1897.
