Biography
Don Charles Foote was born April 13, 1931 in New York City. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1953. He attended the University of Oslo for two years as a research student and subsequently received his MA degree in geography from McGill University in 1958. While working on his Ph.D. at McGill, Foote was a lecturer and researcher at the university. He received his Ph.D. in 1965, after which he joined the faculty of McGill. In 1968, he became an associate professor of human geography at the Institute of Social, Economic and Government Research at the University of Alaska. Foote died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 1969.

Don Charles Foote (1931-1969), professor of geography. Dartmouth College Class of 1953. Consist of typescripts on Iñupiat groups in Alaska (sometimes referred to as "Eskimos"), whaling in the Arctic Ocean and historical geography of Hammerfest, Norway. Photocopies of letters on the whereabouts of logs of British ships operating in western Alaskan waters, as well as a travel log and obituaries are also included.
