Biography
William Robertson Boggs, Brigadier General, Confederate States Army. Graduate of United States Military Academy in 1853. Resigned from the US Army in 1861. In 1862, he was appointed Colonel, Chief Engineer of the State of Georgia. Promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and became Chief of Staff in the Trans-Mississippi Department in the spring of 1863. He was noted as a civil engineer who constructed the military fortifications that protected some of the Confederacy's most important seaports
