Biography

Aaron Harrison Cragin (February 3, 1821 – May 10, 1898) was an American politician and a United States Representative and Senator from New Hampshire. Born in Weston, Vermont, Cragin completed preparatory studies, studied law, was admitted to the bar in Albany, New York in 1847 and commenced practice in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Three-page letter from Aaron Harrison Cragin in Washington, DC to Asa Dodge Smith, telling him that he begiuns Senate term. Also talks about a bank matter that has been settled. Will remember "old Dartmouth" in his distribution of books. Vice president was intoxiated at inauguration of President Lincoln.
