Biography

Arthur M. Dodge received his MD from Harvard University in 1899. He was a member of one of the three parties that accompanied Robert E. Peary's on his 1896 Greenland expedition to secure the largest of the three meteorites that he had previously discovered. Sailing on the "Hope" under the command of John Bartlett, Dodge's party which was led by Professor Alfred E. Burton and included George H. Barton, Russell W. Porter, John C. Phillips and George R. Putnam was landed at Umanak, not far north of Disko Island. Dodge took pictures during this trip north, the stay near Umanak and the return of all parties to the "Hope" in September 1896. Dodge died in 1920.
