Biography

A.B. Lane was born in Barre, Vermont on July 28, 1877. After attending Spaulding High School, he graduated Dartmouth College in 1901 with a Bachelor of Science degree. While at Dartmouth, he played on the Freshman baseball team, was a champion wrestler, and was a member of Alpha Alpha Omega. After Dartmouth, Lane joined his father's building contracting business in Barre, A.W. Lane and Sons. He spent the rest of his career as a building contractor, rising to prominence in the field. He married Carrie Belle Glidden on October 19, 1904. For 18 years, Lane served as secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Vermont; he was also a trustee of Goddard Seminary and of the Universalist Church in Barre. Lane died on March 3, 1942.
