Biography

Werner von Bergen was born in Switzerland where he graduated from technical College, Burgdorf, Switzerland, in 1916. Von Bergen was an authority on the processing of wool with many publications to his credit. He was co-author of the "American Wool Handbook" and the "Textile Fiber Atlas." He also conducted evening courses on woolen and worsted manufacture at Columbia University.

Abstract

Werner von Bergen (b. 1897), chemist and wool expert. Consist of the reprint of Von Bergen's monograph, "Musk-ox wool and its possibilities as a new textile fiber," also includes scoured and carded samples of musk ox and camel hair, as well as a letter from Stefansson to Sir Robert Laird Borden with samples of musk ox wool from Melville Island.
