Biography
Walter R. Peterson was born in 1922 in Nashua, NH. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1947. Following a career in real estate, he became active in New Hampshire politics, serving in the House of Representatives and as Governor from 1969-1973. After serving as governor, he was president of Franklin Pierce College from 1975 to 1995. Since 1996, Peterson has served as a trustee of the University System of New Hampshire.
