Hewette, Joyce Elwell, 1890-1978

 

Biography

Hewette Joyce was born on Nov. 26, 1890 in New Brunswick, NJ. He graduated from Yale in 1912 and was hired by Dartmouth College in 1919 as a member of the English Department. He was chairman of the department from 1936-1939. He was also on the Committee on Administration. He retired as Professor of English Emeritus in 1959 and died in Hanover, NH in 1978.
