Perkins, Fred William, 1898-1984
Biography
Fred Perkins was born on May 15, 1898 in Malden, Mass. He graduated from Harvard in 1921 and was hired by Dartmouth College as a member of the Mathematics Department in 1927. He also served as the chairman of the department from 1939-1943 and 1951-1955. He retired as Professor of Mathematics Emeritus in 1964. Fred Perkins died in Hanover, NH in 1984.

Fred Perkins, Professor of Mathematics Emeritus 1927-1964. Oral history documenting his career at Dartmouth College. Professor Perkins talks about the Math Department in the 1920s and 1930s and the changing trends in instruction, the disagreements in the department along with the Chairmanship of the Math Department and the graduate program. He also discusses Baker Library and World War II.
