Biography

Edward Henry Rollins was born on October 3, 1824 in Somersworth, New Hampshire. He attended the common schools and academies in Dover, New Hampshire and South Berwick, Maine and then engaged in mercantile pursuits. From 1855-1857, Rollins was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives and served as speaker. In 1861, he was elected as a Republican to Congress and served in the 37th, 38th and 39th. From 1886 to 1889, Rollins was president of the Boston, Concord and Montreal Railroad, and was founder of the First National Bank of Concord, New Hampshire, and of the banking house of E. H. Rollins and Sons, Boston. He died on July 31, 1889.
