Biography

George Francis Sparhawk was born on September 15, 1863 in Randolph, Vermont. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1889 and from the Thayer School of Engineering in 1891. He began his professional life shortly thereafter primarily in steel structures including skyscrapers and mill buildings for large steel working plants. From 1896-1931, Sparhawk was a structural engineer for the American Bridge Company. After retirement, he got involved with life insurance. He died on May 3, 1944.
