Biography

Willis Tucker Sparhawk was born on August 8, 1867 in Randolph, Vermont. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1893, after which he taught at Rochester, Vermont and Hitchcock Free High School in Brimfield, Massachusetts. Graduating from Bangor Theological Seminary in 1899, he was ordained to the ministry in 1900 while preaching in Putney, Vermont. From 1903-1904, Sparhawk was the pastor of the Congregational Church in Villa Park, California after which he returned to Vermont to become the pastor of the Congregational Church at Cabot. Throughout the early part of the 20th century he preached at a variety of places and engaged in light missionary work. He retired from the ministry in 1920 and resumed teaching and died in March of 1950.
