Biography

Born in Waverly, Alabama in 1897m Douglas Arant graduated from the University of Virginia in 1920, and received his LL.D degree from Yale in 1923. In that same year he was admitted to the Alabama Bar. His career has included a term as a special assistant to the Attorney General, president of the Alabama State Bar Association, member and chairman of the American Bar Association Bill of Rights Committee, and member of the National Committee to Study Anti-Trust Laws. Arant is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Association, the American Law Institute, and other prestigious societies, including Phi Beta Kappa. For many years he was a friend and associate of Grenville Clark. Arant died in 1978.
