Biography

Carl D. Lane was born in 1899 in New York City. He was a writer who was inspired by his personal experience with boats. His work was published in many of the boating magazines of the day; his short fiction was published by, among others, "The Saturday Evening Post" and "Collier’s." Other publications include "The Boatman’s Manual," "The Cruiser’s Manual," "Boatowner’s Sheet Anchor," and "Navigation the Easy Way." Lane died in 1995.

Carl D. Lane (1899-1995), author. The collection contains the typescript, with handwritten corrections, of his book, "American Paddle Steamboats" and typescript and galleys of his novel, "The Fleet in the Forest," both published in 1943.
