Biography

John Hugh MacLennan was born on March 20, 1907 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He was a Canadian author and professor of English at McGill University. Publications include "Baromer Rising" (1941), "Two Solitudes" (1945), "The Precipice" (1948), "The Watch That Ends The Night" (1957) and "Return of the Sphinx." He won five Governor General's Awards and a Royal Bank Award. MacLennan died on November 9, 1990.
