Biography

George Fort Milton was born on November 19, 1894 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1916. After graduation he worked for the "Washington Times" and from 1916-1917 the "New York Herald Tribune." During World War I he served as a staff officer in the Rainbow Division of the US Army. After the war he became managing editor of the "Chattanooga News." Beginning in the 1920's, Milton began to write books completing five history books by the mid 1940s. He also lectured on historical subjects. Milton died in 1955.
