Biography

Robert Jackson was born on May 21, 1880 in Dover, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1900 after which he studied law at Harvard Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1907 and immediately became active in New Hampshire politics and later in national Democratic affairs. Jackson was chairman of the Democratic City Committee, Concord from 1914-1918. He was also a member of the N.H. Excise Commission, Secretary, of the N.H. Committee of Public Safety, and a delegate to Democratic National Convention from New Hampshire in 1920 and 1924. As both an attorney and financier, Jackson tended to work behind the scenes in the Democratic Party. He died in 1973.
