Purvis, Donn, 1903-1972

 

Biography

Donn R. Purvis was born in 1903 in Puerto Rico. He was a graduate of St. John's Academy in Waukesaw, Wis., and attended the University of Wisconsin and Georgetown Foreign Service School. After graduation, Purvis became the aide to the Chief of Protocol in the U.S. State Department and later transferred to the Library of Congress. After retireing from the Library of Congress, he and his wife moved to Concord. He then spent five winters in New York City, indexing the Van Dam Theatre Collection for Lincoln Center and was librarian at the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester when he died in 1972.
