Doherty, Ethel, 1889-1974

 

Biography

Ethel Doherty was born on February 2, 1889 in Lost Angeles, California. She was a screenwriter, author, and educator. Doherty worked as a history teacher during the day and wrote screenplays with her friend Louise Long (1886-1966) at night. They eventually got jobs as edtors at Paramount Pictures. Doherty and Long worked steadily in film through the late 1930s before deciding to turn their interests to writing magazines and novels, including 1938's "The Seeds of Time." Doherty died on August 12, 1974.
