Biography
Born in Corinth, Vermont in 1865, Parley R. Bugbee came to Hanover in 1882, to work as a clerk for a Hanover merchant. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1890, and became both cashier for the Dartmouth National Bank and treasurer for the Dartmouth Savings Bank. In 1923, he was elected to the presidency of the Dartmouth National Bank, a position he held until his death. Bugbee was active in Hanover community affairs, state and national politics , and in bankers' associations and Dartmouth affairs . He married Elizabeth C. Campbell in 1901, and after her death in 1924, married Irene M, Farren. He died in Hanover, October 8, 1935.

The papers of Perley R. Bugbee contain his autograph collection and poetry written by him. Papers relating to the construction of a house in Hanover, N.H. (1907) as well as legal and other papers related him and to Mills Olcott, Olcotts daughter Sarah and her husband William H. Duncan are also included. In addition, legal documents, such as deeds and judgments connected to Dartmouth College and the town of Hanover can also be found here.
