Biography

John R. Chamberlain was born in October 28, 1903 in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale University in 1925, where he was chairman of the campus humor magazine "The Yale Record."Chamberlain began his career in journalism at the New York Times in 1926, serving there as both an editor and book reviewer during the 1930s and became a usiness and economic historian, syndicated columnist and literary critic. He died on April 9, 1995.

Abstract

John Chamberlain (1903-1995), journalist. The collection contains the typescripts of the book "The American Stakes" and for the essat "Fadiman for the Millions," both by John Chamberlain. The essay appeared in the "Saturday Evening Post" in 1941 and the book was published in 1940.
