Biography

Gertrude Franklin Horn Atherton was born on October 30, 1857 in San Francisco, California. She was an author who set many of her novels in her home state. Publications include "The Randolphs of Redwood: A Romance" (1882), "Doomswoman" (1892), "Patience Sparhawk and Her Times, A Novel" (1897), and "Black Oxen" (1923). Atherton died on June 14, 1948.

Gertrude Atherton (1857-1948), author. The collection contains the typescript with handwritten corrections and printer's notations of "Dido, Queen of Hearts" (19129) and "Golden Gate Country" (1945) by Gertrude Atherton.
