Breuer, Bessie, 1893-1975

 

Biography

Bessie Breuer was born Elizabeth Freedman on October 19, 1893 in Cleveland, Ohio. She studied journalism and worked as a reporter for the "St. Louis Times," the "New York Tribune," and "Ladied Home Journal." She also crontributed articles to "Harper's Magazine" and the "Pictorial Review." Breuer moved to France in the early 1920s and began writing fiction. Her first works of fiction to be published were short stories in "Story" and "Harper's" magazines. She published her first novel "Memory of Love" in 1935. Breuer died in 1975.
