Biography

Faith Wadsworth Hubbard was born in 1812. She was the daughter of Professor Benjamin Silliman of Yale College. She married Oliver Payson Hubbard, a scientist and professor of chemistry at Dartmouth College on May 17, 1897. They had one son Grosvenor Silliman Hubbard who became a prominent lawyer in New York City. Faith Hubbard died in 1887.

Scope and Contents

Six-page letter from Oliver Payson Hubbard in Hanover to Faith Wadsworth (Silliman) Hubbard, telling her that there is much controversy among the faculty. He and others have resigned. Politics in Hanover is "in a little circle." Also talks about the country's problem of the Reconstruction Acts and the President's veto. Flood at Windsor. C.D. Cleveland at Cardiff.
