Frederic Augustus Adams was born on July 19, 1807 in New Ipswich, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1833 and received his PhD from Princeton University in 1869.

Abstract
Frederick. A. Adams (1807-1888), educator. The collection includes letters to family members concerning family life and activities as a school teacher and member of several church groups. Some letters discuss travel in Brussels, Florence, Geneva, London, and other cities in Europe. Collection also includes letters written to family members by his wife, Mary Jane Adams
