Conner, Phineas Sanborn (Phineas Sanborn), 1839-1909

 

Biography

Phineas Sanborn Conner was born August 23, 1839 in Westchester, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1859. He received his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in 1861, after which he joined the United States Army as a surgeon working out of Columbian Hospital in Washington, DC. Conner resigned from his duties in 1866, and settled in Cincinnati where he was a surgeon of the Cincinnati Hospital and the Good Samaritan Hospital, as well as professor of surgery, anatomy and chemistry in the medical college of Ohio and professor of surgery in Cincinnati medical college and at Dartmouth. Conner died March 26, 1909.

Abstract

Phinneas Sanborn Conner (1839-1909), surgeon. Dartmouth Class of 1859. The collection consists of scrapbooks related to his service as a surgeon in the United States Army during the Civil War as well as material related to his service on the Commission to investigate the Conduct of the War Department in the war with Spain. Synopsis of 54 lectures delivered by Prof. Conner at the Medical College, Ohio, as well as a catalogue of his library are also included.
