Biography
Victor Macomber Cutter was born on September 2, 1881 in Massachusetts. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1903. A year later he received a M.C.S. degree from the Tuck School of Administration and Finance at Dartmouth. Upon graduation, Cutter went to work as a timekeeper for the United Fruit Company in Costa Rica. He succeeded to more responsible positions, supporting the effort to pioneer fruit plantations in Guatemala and Honduras. In that capacity he helped select and lay out farms and oversaw rail and communication construction. He rose to president of the company in 1924, serving until 1933. In 1934, Cutter became regional chairman of the National Resources Planning Board and chairman of the New England Regional Planning Commission. He also held the directorship or presidency of a multitude of business corporations and was a trustee of Dartmouth College, Colby Jr. College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Cutter died on December 25, 1952.
