Biography
John L. Ferguson was born in 1893 at Holyoke, Mass. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1915, and attended Harvard University and the University of Tulsa Graduate School. In 1928, he moved to Tulsa and joined the Amerada Petroleum Corporation as a geophysical geologist. He left Amerada in 1950, for Deep Rock Oil Corporation where he became head of exploration. In 1954, he joined the Buffalo Oil Corporation where he served until his retirement in 1961. Ferguson died on July 13, 1973.

John Ferguson (1893-1973). Dartmouth Class of 1915. The collection contains papers concerning Ferguson's student years at Dartmouth, including a geology notebook, grade records, and photographs. Additionally, photographs, printed materials and letters written home while on active service in France during World War I chronicle Ferguson's time as a soldier.
