Biography

Harold Batchelder Pinkham was born on June 16, 1894 in Milton, New Hampshire. He attended Dartmouth College from 1911-1912 and Bowdoin but did not graduate from either. Pinkham worked for railroad companies in Nebraska and New York (1913, 1916-17), rose to corporal in the United States Army (1917-19), then worked as a teacher in Ohio (1921), and a laborer in Washington state (1926-28).In 1946, he returned to Milton and became the postmaster, a position he held until 1964. Pinkham was also a poet and essayist and frequently wrote a news column for the local newspaper.

Abstract

Harold B. Pinkham (1894-1980), teacher and poet. Attended Dartmouth College from 1911-1912. The collection contains correspondence and writings. His essay entitled "My Hobo Years"is also included.
