Biography

Henry Bailey Stevens was born on July 13, 1891 in Hookset, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1912. After graduation in 1912, he went to work in Boston for the Woman’s Journal, the suffragist newspaper, whose managing editor was Agnes Ryan (1878-1954). In 1918, Stevens accepted a position with University of New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service, where he stayed until his retirement in 1956. He died in 1976.
