Biography
Mary Elizabeth Wesbrook was born on August 31, 1914, in Duluth, Minnesota, the eldest daughter of Donald McDermid Wesbrook and Elizabeth (Barney) Wesbrook. She was educated in Montreal schools, attended McGill University for a year, and received her AB degree from Vassar College in 1935. She worked for Royal Typewriter Ltd. for a brief time, and then worked as secretary in the English and Architecture Departments at McGill until 1945, when she went to England to work for the British YWCA in London and Guilford. In 1948, Wesbrook accepted a position as secretary in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Dartmouth College, a position she held until her retirement in 1979. She died on January 5, 1995.
