Biography

Edward Smith Parsons was born in 1863, in Brooklyn, New York. He received a BA from Amherst in 1883, and a BD from Yale in 1887. He was ordained in the Congregational Church in 1887. In 1892, Parsons joined the faculty of Colorado College as an English professor before becoming vice president of the college. He resigned in 1917, and moved to Marietta College in Ohio, where he served as president from 1919-1936, and as president emeritus from 1936-1943. Parsons died in 1943.
