Biography

William Kilborne Stewart was born on January 2, 1875 in Ontario, Canada. He graduated from University of Toronto in 1897 and received an AM from Harvard University in 1898. From 1899-1907, Stewart was instructor of German at Dartmouth College, rising to full professor by 1923. In 1908, he added comparative literature to his teaching resume. Stewart received an honorary degree from Dartmouth College in 1914 and died on May 6, 1944.
