Biography

Moses Courtwright Ewing was born on March 21, 1888 in Newbury, Massachusetts. He attended Dartmouth College from 1909-1911 but did not graduate. He went on to McGill University for musical training. In 1931, Ewing became the head of the music department of the Berry School and College and served in this capacity for eight years. He then went to Boston but returned to Berry in 1951 where he served the schools as director of the choir, glee club, quartets, orchestra and band as well as organist of the Mount Berry Church. Ewing was a composer of classical and semiclassical music and composed the words and music for the Dartmouth College Touchdown song and the Berry Alma Matter. Ewing died on January 24, 1958.
