Biography

John Franklin Blanchard was born on July 5, 1913 in Toronto, Canada. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1935. After service in the US Army Ordinance during World War II, Blanchard began his career as a teacher and writer. He taught English at Ewing Junior High School in Trenton, New Jersey and at Admiral Farragut Academy. For many years, he had worked on a book setting forth theories that he hoped, as a humanitarian, would improve the lot of the underprivileged. Blanchard died in December of 1972.

Abstract

John Blanchard (1913-1972), machine tool maker. Dartmouth College Class of 1935. The collection contains business and personal correspondence, bills, military recorfs, diaries, class notes, and exams as well as material relating to agricultural studies and practice and letters inquiring about patent application procedures for a game that Blanchard invented. Poetry by Blanchard and by his father, Harold F. Blanchard is also included.
