Biography

Whitney Campbell was born on Oct. 3, 1904, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1925, and from Harvard Law School in 1928. Early in his career as a lawyer in Chicago, he co-authored the Illinois Corporation Act of 1933, regarded as landmark legislation in that field. He also helped to draft the Model Business Corporate Acts which have served as the basis for present corporate law in nearly half the states of the nation. Campbell was also a fellow of the American Bar Association and a member of the American Law Institute. He died on June 17, 1974, at the age of 68.

Abstract

Whitney Campbell (1904-1973), attorney. Dartmouth College Class of 1925. The collection contains correspondence, photographs and ephemera from his student days at Dartmouth College, including correspondence with Theodor Geisel, aka "Dr. Seuss".
