Dorothy Holland, a former educator and writer became interested in genealogy after her retirement in the 1960s, and wrote several books on the subject. In the early 1970s, at the urging of her cousin and friend David E. Woods, she began work on the genealogy of the Nash family. After not being able to publish it, she donated the manuscript and her research to Dartmouth College in the 1990s.
